How to Build Team Camaraderie…Minus the Cheesy Icebreakers

Get away from the job site or office!

Building camaraderie and strength as a team is obviously done each day on the job, but the value in getting the team together, outside of the workplace is priceless. Knowing this, every quarter, our Plymouth branch holds a team-building event outside of work.

This past month, the team left the job site and went straight to indoor kart racing. Nothing like a little friendly competition to build camaraderie, right?!

Racing and food…what more could you need?

Held at JDKarting in Novi, MI, the team was able to have its own private room with a pool table, and of course, plenty of food and drinks!

When it was time to start racing, the team was put into groups of six. Each group raced two times around the track. Through a series of races, the day ended with three winners in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Finding an event for everyone.

The important thing, when it comes to planning a team-building event, is to consider your audience. The great thing about indoor racing was it appealed to everyone on the team, including the wide range of ages. Ultimately, while the competition was fun, it was truly just a great way for everyone to take a break from work and get to know each other outside of the work environment.

Holding these types of events on a quarterly basis is a huge reason why we not only attract top talent, but we retain! To build a top-tier team, you must treat your team like the top-tier it is.
