Construction Safety Technician (Contract) - Coldwater, MI

Serve Electric is seeking a Construction Safety Technician for a long-term, temporary contract at a food processing facility construction project in Coldwater, Michigan. This role is key to supporting and reinforcing our safety culture on-site through daily safety oversight, safety software reporting, and active involvement in both operational planning and policy review.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document daily safety audits using designated safety management software; submit reports to the prime contractor.
  • Participate in and contribute to Safety Committee meetings, safety coordination meetings, and job planning sessions.
  • Review and provide feedback on Serve Electric’s safety policies, site-specific procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs); help ensure documentation remains aligned with field practices and evolving risks.
  • Monitor field activities for compliance with OSHA standards, Serve Electric’s Health & Safety Handbook, and client-specific requirements.
  • Identify job site hazards and collaborate with supervision and workers to implement corrective measures.
  • Assist in incident and near-miss investigations, including documentation and root cause analysis.
  • Promote consistent use of PPE and support a culture of personal ownership in safety across crews and subcontractors.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records using Microsoft Office and internal reporting systems.
  • Support safety training efforts and ensure alignment with Serve Electric’s employee-driven safety culture.

Required Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety card (issued within the last 10 years).
  • Minimum 1–3 years’ experience in a construction safety or field technician role.
  • Demonstrated experience using safety management software (e.g., for audits, observations, and reports).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with reviewing and implementing safety procedures and SOPs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, construction safety best practices, and hazard identification techniques.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and team collaboration skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Contract position, long-term temporary assignment.
  • Work will occur in hot outdoor weather as well as cold/freezing indoor environments.
  • Role involves regular mobility through active construction zones and production areas.

PLC Programmer - Sterling Heights, MI

Serve Electric is looking for a driven and detail-oriented PLC Programmer to join our team. The PLC Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining programmable logic controller systems for various industrial automation and control applications. The PLC Programmer is required to travel to different project locations throughout the US to implement and support PLC systems. This position can expect to be 50% travel to 50% time in our local office. 

 

Job Description: 

  • PLC Programming: Develop and write PLC programs, ladder logic, function block diagrams, and other programming languages to control industrial machinery and processes. Ensure that the programs are efficient, reliable, and meet the specific requirements of each client or project.
  • System Integration: Integrate PLC systems with other industrial automation components such as Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and various sensors.
  • Commissioning: Travel to client sites and conduct on-site commissioning of PLC systems. This involves setting up the equipment, configuring the software, testing the system, and ensuring proper functionality.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLC systems during commissioning, operation, or maintenance. Troubleshoot problems in electrical circuits, communication networks, and PLC hardware/software.
  • Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation, including system design specifications, programming manuals, and user guides for the clients and other team members.
  • Client Support: Provide technical support to clients and end-users to resolve PLC-related issues, answer questions, and assist with system maintenance.

The Project Manager is also accountable for project invoices and acts as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries while maintaining a high level of customer service. Typical decision-making required for this position includes:

Traveling Journeyman Electrician Data Collector - Sterling Heights, MI & Travel in US

We are seeking a meticulous and safety-conscious Traveling Journeyman Electrician to join our team for data collection for arc flash and thermal imaging.  

In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and documenting electrical system data necessary for conducting arc flash studies and ensuring workplace safety. Your work will directly contribute to the development of safe and compliant electrical systems across various facilities.  

This person must be willing to travel within the United States.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Data Collection: Collect detailed electrical data including system configurations, electrical equipment ratings, and operating conditions from various facilities. 
  • Equipment Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of electrical panels, switchgear, transformers, and other electrical components to gather relevant data. 
  • Documentation: Accurately document all collected data and ensure it is organized and easily accessible for analysis and reporting. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers and safety professionals to ensure accurate and comprehensive data collection. 
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols while performing data collection tasks, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). 
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed reports of collected data to the engineering team for further analysis.

Qualifications: 

  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License

  • Experience: Previous experience in electrical systems data collection, inspection, or a related field is highly desirable.
