Note: Each month, each member of our team engages in classroom style and hands-on safety training on a particular topic.
First things first, what is Lockout Tagout (LOTO)?
LOTO is a technique used to prevent energy from being released during the servicing of equipment. This is accomplished by placing locks on energy isolation devices prior to starting work.
As you can imagine, it’s incredibly important for each member of our team to be well-versed in LOTO procedures for their safety and the safety of those around them.
Training at the Branches
For optimal learning, our trainings are a combination of lecture-based and hands-on lessons. This training covered topics such as:
- What is LOTO
- What you need to do it
- Who can perform it
- Steps and procedures
- and more
The photo here shows members of our Sterling Heights Team walking through a LOTO procedure on a demo board our team created.

Implementing Training in the Field
Technically, our team uses LOTO procedures just about daily in our line of work. That said, even those team members that are well-versed in LOTO still participated in the trainings because you can never know too much when it comes to safety.
In this photo, you can see six different LOTO tags for six different Serve Team Members!
